Tanya Sharma was crowned Miss Universe Uttar Pradesh 2025 on the glitzy evening of March 30. The competition took place at the Centrum Hotel in Lucknow. She will now represent the state of Uttar Pradesh at India’s biggest beauty pageant – Miss Universe India 2025 to take place later this year. At the same event, Andleeb Zaidi was crowned second runner-up andMehakDhingra secured the first runner-up position.
The auditions for the competition happened on March 16 at Jaipuria Institute of Management after the online registrations. Thirty of the most beautiful and talented women from all across the state were shortlisted to compete in the final event.
The grand finale commenced with a vivacious opening segment, showcasing the candidates in cocktail dresses which was followed by the ethnic wear segment where the candidates walked the runway in sarees. The third round comprised the evening gown segment. After the evening gown segment, top 10 finalists were announced. The top 10 includedLekha U Nair, Alkaria Hashmi, SukratySaxena, MehakDhingra, Tanya Sharma, Andleeb Zaidi, MuskanTyagi, DivyanshiSachi, Ashima Chaudhary and KritiSinghal.
The top 10 contestants then appeared for the question and answer round, where they were further narrowed down to the top 5: Lekha Nair, MehakDhingra, Tanya Sharma, Andleeb Zaidi and MuskanTyagi.
The final five contestants then appeared for the final question where they were asked a common question: "One woman according to you who changed history in India?"While answering the final question, Tanya mentioned, “Being here on the platform of Miss Universe, I can’t help but talk about Sushmita Sen. She not only opened doors for a lot of women in India but proved that strong and bold women create history. She once said - ‘you don’t have to live forever but make sure your story lives forever’ this is something that really moves me. And like her, this is the kind of legacy I want to leave behind.”
After the final question, the top three titleholders were announced. Tanya Sharma was crowned Miss Universe Uttar Pradesh 2025. She was crowned by the outgoing titleholder, Kanak Agnihotri and the reigning Miss Universe India, Rhea Singha. The event was also attended by Mr. Nikhil Anand, National Director of Miss Universe India. Tanya Sharma will now go on to represent Uttar Pradesh at Miss Universe India national competition.
