Pushap Pranay from Jammu and Kashmir has been selected as one of the national finalists for the 2026 Mr. India Universe competition. The national finale of the competition is scheduled to take place later this year. At the culmination of the event, the new Mr. India Universe winner will be chosen.

Pushap Pranay is a data scientist, aspiring actor and model originally from Sarore, a small village in Jammu, Jammu & Kashmir, and is currently based in Bengaluru, Karnataka. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering and is fluent in Hindi, English, Punjabi and Dogri. Combining a strong technical background with a passion for the performing arts, he has cultivated skills in acting, theatre, stage performance, and runway presentation while maintaining a disciplined interest in fitness and self-development. Academically accomplished, he earned a government scholarship through academic excellence, was a Grand Finalist at the Smart India Hackathon, and has demonstrated leadership by successfully leading project teams during both his university education and professional career. Alongside his work as a data scientist, he continues to pursue his passion for modelling and acting, while also nurturing a keen interest in nature and wildlife documentaries, reflecting his curiosity and appreciation for the world beyond technology.
Pushap's journey has been defined by resilience, self-belief, and an unwavering determination to transform adversity into purpose. Growing up, he endured persistent bullying because of his physique and his appearance, experiences that deeply affected his confidence and academic performance. At the same time, his family faced financial hardships and witnessing the sacrifices made by his parents instilled in him a profound sense of responsibility and gratitude. A turning point came when his tuition teacher recognised his potential at a time when he struggled to believe in himself. Encouraged by that faith, he began rebuilding his confidence by embracing acting and modelling, gradually overcoming stage fear, improving his communication skills, and stepping beyond his comfort zone. As his confidence grew, so did his academic performance, eventually becoming one of the top-performing students. Receiving a government scholarship enabled him to leave Jammu and move independently to Mysuru for higher studies, a life-changing decision that broadened his horizons, strengthened his independence, and allowed him to discover his true capabilities. Although financial responsibilities led him to prioritise a career in data science to support his family, he never abandoned his creative aspirations, choosing instead to express himself through confidence, performance, and every opportunity life presented. His selection as a finalist for Mr. India Universe 2026 represents the culmination of years of perseverance and personal transformation. Looking ahead, Pushap aspires to represent India on the international stage while redefining the image of the modern Indian man - someone who is intellectually accomplished yet creatively expressive, confident yet compassionate, ambitious yet grounded in values. Through his journey, he hopes to inspire others to believe that no dream is too distant when pursued with resilience, integrity, and the courage to remain true to oneself.
