Evelyn Zachhingpuii from Aizawl was crowned Miss Universe Mizoram 2025 at the state finals of the competition held on May 2, 2025. She was crowned by Miss Universe India 2024 (3rd runner-up), Sushmita Roy. Evelyn will now represent the state of Mizoram at the upcoming edition of the Miss Universe India competition, scheduled to take place in the coming months.
Evelyn holds a master’s degree in sociology and is a model by profession. Raised in a supportive family, she credits her upbringing for shaping her grounded and purposeful nature. As the middle child among three siblings, she learned early on how to listen, adapt, and lead. An introverted child since a young age, she challenged herself by stepping into the world of modeling during her teenage years. This journey led her to her first pageant in college in 2019, where she was named first runner-up. The experience ignited a lasting passion for pageantry. In 2024, she competed in Miss Mizoram and once again earned the first runner-up title. While many viewed it as falling short, she saw it as a powerful step forward—a reminder that growth is more important than titles. Her family runs a farm in Aizawl, and she mentions that farming has taught her patience, perseverance, and the value of staying connected to one's roots.
Her experiences and education have not only shaped her character but also deepened her sense of purpose. One cause particularly close to her heart is supporting women and children affected by domestic violence. While government efforts to protect victims are growing stronger, she believes the real challenge lies in awareness. Many victims remain unaware of the rights and protections available to them. Her mission is to ensure that every woman knows she is not alone. She believes no woman should suffer in silence. By spreading knowledge and encouraging open conversations, she hopes to empower those in vulnerable situations to speak up and seek help. For her, it is about respect, dignity, and making sure every voice is heard.
In the coming months, she will be seen walking down the stage at the 2025 Miss Universe India contest, representing the state of Mizoram. The competition is owned by one of the biggest beauty pageant organizations in the world—Glamanand Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. (popularly known as the Glamanand Group). The organization was established by its founder and president, Nikhil Anand, in the year 2013, and gradually it became one of the leading beauty pageant producers in the world. At the conclusion of this year’s Miss Universe India competition, the reigning titleholder, Rhea Singha from Gujarat, will crown her successor, who will later go on to represent India at the prestigious Miss Universe 2025 competition, scheduled to happen in the month of November in Thailand.
