Exclusive interview – Arjun Dutta, the national finalist of Mr. India Universe 2025

Arjun is pursuing a BCA at Amity University, Noida, and knows Hindi, English and German. Standing 5’8” tall, Arjun is a versatile multi-sport athlete. He has trained in skating, tennis, basketball, football, athletics, swimming, and Taekwondo. He also practices dance and plays the keyboard. His dedication to tennis saw him training six days a week and competing under the All India Tennis Association (AITA), where he was ranked among the Top 50 players in India in the Under-12 category. Over the years, he has earned numerous medals and prizes in sports, dance, and piano. Arjun’s journey has not been without challenges.

A serious knee injury, followed by the COVID-19 pandemic, forced him to step back from competitive tennis. He also faced bullying during his early school years. Guided by his mother’s advice, he chose to rise above these difficulties, focusing his energy on new disciplines. Dance and piano became his outlets, helping him gain confidence, expression, and stage presence. Today, Arjun continues to train across multiple fields and aspires to become a fitness influencer, inspiring others to believe in themselves and to never give up. For him, the Mr. India platform is more than a title—it is an opportunity to represent resilience and prove that setbacks are not the end, but the beginning of a comeback. This October, he will be travelling to Jaipur to compete for the title of Mr. India Universe.

Here’s an exclusive interview with him.

Q. You are a national finalist of the Mr. India Universe. How do you feel about it?
Answer:
Honestly, I feel blessed and proud. It’s a dream turning into reality, and it motivates me to give my best. Mister India is not just a competition for me it’s a platform where I can showcase all my talents and inspire other people to become the best version of themselves.

Q. What strategy or approach did you follow while preparing for the national finale?
Answer:
Consistency. I focused on my fitness, grooming, and mindset, trying to become the best version of myself each day. Watching influencers online on how to improve small bits of myself and keep grooming myself to who I am now.

Q. Who or what has been your greatest support system throughout your journey?
Answer:
My family and close friends have been my greatest support. They’ve seen me struggle, fall, and rise again. Their belief in me kept me going on days I doubted myself. It gave me strength to keep pushing forward.

Q What was the biggest challenge you faced during your journey and how did you overcome it?
Answer:
Self-doubt. I was always insecure about my dark complexion and my facial features. here were moments I questioned whether I was good enough. I overcame it by reminding myself of my discipline in sports and fitness. I reminded myself that growth comes only when we step outside our comfort zone.

Q. Please take us through your off camera life. What other things keep you occupied in your everyday life?
Answer:
Off camera, I’m a student, currently pursuing my BCA in Noida. My everyday life is a balance of academics, sports, fitness, and music. I love playing tennis and basketball, riding my bike and even playing the piano when I need peace.

Q. What are the qualities that you believe set you apart from the other candidates who are competing for the title this year?
Answer:
Everyone here is talented, but what sets me apart is my ability to connect. I believe true leadership is about lifting others while you rise. My other ability is my versatility, how I have participated in multiple areas including academics, sports, fitness and many more. But more than winning I’m here to inspire people like me who are insecure about themselves and so that everyone becomes a better version of themselves.

Q. What are your hobbies and areas of interests?
Answer:
My biggest interests are sports, fitness, and adventure. Playing tennis, basketball, or spending hours in the gym keeps me motivated and disciplined. I also love riding bikes, it gives me a sense of freedom and playing piano, which helps me express my emotions when I’m feeling low. All these interests shape who I am both on and off stage.
